Hiking doesn’t sound very scary. It’s just walking, right?

Two vertical hours trekking up a glacier in Iceland, I realized I couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s a serious workout. Sweaty and out of breath, I was happy I had the forethought to pack not only a few granola bars and a water bottle, but a pair of Merrell hiking boots and a raincoat too (which came in handy when it started to pour). The main takeaway from my experience was that my gear was critical to the way I could stand up to the hike.
